Tutor Training Orientation and Workshops:
Adult Basic Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
To register for both Adult Basic Literacy and/or ESOL tutor training workshops you must first attend an orientation session. Orientation sessions are held on the first Thursday of each month with the exception of July and December. Below is a schedule of tutor orientation sessions and tutor training workshops.
Orientation sessions are an hour and half and will outline the expectations of tutors and how the programs are conducted. Training workshops focus on the adult learner and incorporate strategies for successful adult basic literacy or ESOL tutoring.
Orientation sessions are free. To register for orientation please email Linda DeRocher (lderocher@literacy-council.org) or call (205-326-1925). There is a $25.00 fee for tutor training workshops due upon registration that covers materials. To register for a tutor training workshop please click here to download the form and send it with a check made out to The Literacy Council by the deadline, or register through PayPal using the link. Registration deadlines are listed for each orientation session and workshop.
