Tutor Training Workshops:
Basic Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
These workshops are 5-hour trainings that focus on the adult learner and incorporate strategies for successful one-on-one literacy or ESOL tutoring.
Tutor trainings held in The Literacy Council’s 5-county service area are free, but there is an $18.00 materials fee due upon registration. Registration deadlines are listed for each workshop. Please download the form and send it with a check made out to The Literacy Council by the deadline, or register through PayPal using the link.

Basic Literacy tutor training workshops in Jefferson County are held the second and third Tuesday of each month except June and December. Workshops are from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at The Literacy Council offices, located at 2301 1st Avenue North, Suite 102, Birmingham, AL 35233.

In addition, The Literacy Council holds an annual ESOL Educator Conference for Volunteer-Based Programs. The 2010 conference is scheduled for Friday, October 22. More information and registration for the conference will be posted soon. Please continue to check back for updates.
