The Jackie Wuska Hurt GED Scholarship

The Literacy Council offers financial assistance to students who need help paying the GED testing fee. The scholarship provides $40 toward the $50 fee for the test. The award also provides funding for a portion of transportation costs to the test site and child care costs for the day of testing.   Who Qualifies? The applicant will have completed and passed all parts of the official GED practice exam. The applicant must live or work in Blount, Jefferson, St. Clair, Shelby, or Walker counties. The applicant must demonstrate financial need. Download a printable brochure.   How To Apply: Download the student portion of the GED Scholarship. Find a sponsor from an agency who is willing to verify your financial need eligibility and your GED practice score and have them sign and submit the completed application. Download the GED referral form and agree to respond to a general survey after receiving the award. Download the GED Release Form and agree to have your GED exam scores given to The Literacy Council.
