The Jackie Wuska Hurt GED Scholarship
The Literacy Council offers financial assistance to students who need help paying the GED testing fee. The scholarship provides $40 toward the $50 fee for the test. The award also provides funding for a portion of transportation costs to the test site and child care costs for the day of testing.
Who Qualifies?
- The applicant will have completed and passed all parts of the official GED practice exam.
- The applicant must live or work in Blount, Jefferson, St. Clair, Shelby, or Walker counties.
- The applicant must demonstrate financial need.

How To Apply:
- Download the student portion of the GED Scholarship.
- Find a sponsor from an agency who is willing to verify your financial need eligibility and your GED practice score and have them sign and submit the completed application.
- Download the GED referral form and agree to respond to a general survey after receiving the award.
